Celebrate and Drink In LGBTQ History with Neighborhood Pub Tour
Celebrate one of New York City’s most historic and iconic neighborhoods as New York City Urban Adventures unveils its latest tour: the LGBTQ History, Neighborhood and Pub Tour of Greenwich Village. From the Stonewall National Monument, Cherry Lane and the Oscar Wilde Bookshop to the iconic gay bars of Christopher Street, you’ll drink in the history of the birthplace of the LGBTQ civil rights movement.
Launched to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, NYCUA’s LGBTQ History, Neighborhood and Pub Tour of Greenwich Village will offer up a three-hour walking tour of one of the oldest neighborhoods in NYC. Urban Adventures is the first mainstream tour company to operate a daily LGBTQ themed tour in NYC. Each tour is led by a guide that identifies as LGBTQ. An LGBTQ local expert guide, who will break down the history of “the Village,” which started out as a 1630’s tobacco field and eventually became home to the counterculture of every subsequent generation Visits to three iconic gay bars (with one drink included)—Stonewall Inn, Julius’ and Marie’s Crisis—where you’ll celebrate your Pride alongside the locals Stop in at Big Gay Ice Cream, where you’ll scream for ice cream (or vegan pops), included with ticket A stop to remember our sisters, brothers and others at the NYC Aids Memorial A walk down the streets where love is love is love, where you’ll see some of the major institutions that have shaped LGBTQ history for more than half a century
