Kylie Minogue's 'Tension' Tour Is a Master Class of Pure Pop Perfection

Kylie Minogue

It took me a few days to write this review as I need that time to regain my composure from seeing Queen Kylie in her adopted hometown of London. I attended the first of 4 sold-out performances at the O2 Arena and the mood was nothing short of euphoric. From the opening beat of “Light’s Camera Action,” the Queen of Pop proved once again why she’s a global icon with a career that continues to defy gravity. Drenched in glam, glitter, and glorious energy, the Tension Tour stop in London wasn’t just a concert—it was a full-blown celebration of joy, resilience, and timeless pop brilliance.

Kylie wasted no time diving into her legacy, immediately setting the crowd ablaze with a singalongs “What Do I Have to Do,” "Spinning Around," and “Better the Devil You Know.” These anthems felt as fresh and fierce as ever, with the audience belting every lyric in unison. Then came the first of many magical moments—Kylie doing the locomotion through the crowd to a center stage. The nostalgia was thick in the air, and yet it all felt reinvigorated with sleek, 2020s production.

Once at the heart of the arena, she pivoted seamlessly into the sleek sounds of her Disco era. Bathed in neon lights and pulsing beats, Kylie transformed the space into a Studio 54 dreamscape with tracks like “Say Something", "Real Groove," and “Supernova” showing that her newer material more than holds its own against the classics.

Then, the surprise of the night—a dreamy, emotionally-charged rendition of “I Should Be So Lucky.” It was a beautiful reminder of where Kylie’s journey began, and how far she’s come.

Back on the main stage, Kylie cast her spell with “Magic” before launching into an electrifying onslaught of hits beginning with a haunting performance of "Confide In Me". “Slow” sounded as fresh as ever. She seems to reinvent the song on each tour and this performance was iconic. It's hard to explain how electric it is, so you'll just have to go to a show and see for yourself.

“Can’t Get You Outta My Head” sent the crowd into a frenzy, and “All the Lovers” turned the arena into a shimmering love-fest with phone lights illuminating the arena. Then came “Padam Padam,” the viral hit that’s already etched its place in her canon—its pounding rhythm shaking the arena to its core.

I would be remiss if I didn't give a shout out to her incredible band and dancers. They kept the energy high for the two-hour show.

But the ultimate showstopper? “Love at First Sight.” As the closing track, it was pure euphoria. The entire O2 was bouncing, dancing, and shouting every word back to Kylie. From floor to rafters, it felt like the whole building was vibrating with joy and adoration. She didn’t just close the show—she brought the house down.

Kylie Minogue’s Tension Tour is more than just a concert—it's a masterclass in pop, a glittering reminder that charisma, authenticity, and a discography of gold never go out of style.
