Though known as the Bourbon City, Louisville, Kentucky’s list of family friendly experiences is expanding beyond it’s plethora of unique museums and attractions with three, new, world-class offerings.

The Dot Experience: A Louisville institution is opening what they are calling the “most inclusive museum in the world” in October 2026. The American Print House for the Blind (APH) has been operating in Louisville since 1858 and is the oldest organization of its kind in the US. The Dot Experience, a $22 million museum opening at APH this Fall, is said to be “the world’s first attraction where every exhibit, image, and artifact is fully accessible to everyone.” The museum will explore powerful stories and innovations shaped by people who are blind or low vision, and feature artifacts like Helen Keller’s desk, a piano played by Stevie Wonder, the world’s first guide dog harness, and a rare 1829 book by Louis Braille. In addition to the DOT Experience, APH will provide a factory tour of its facility to show how braille products are made.
SAR Education Center and Museum: Headquartered on Louisville’s Main Street since 1988, the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will unveil a new $30 million SAR Education Center and Museum in late summer 2026. In conjunction with the current genealogical library that houses over 50,000 materials, the museum will include interactive galleries leading visitors on a journey spanning the entire American Revolution and highlight the pivotal people and events of the period.

Flying Fox at Kentucky Kingdom: Kentucky’s largest amusement park, will finalize a $25 million renovation in spring 2026 and introduce its first new roller coaster since 2019 with The Flying Fox. The family-friendly suspension coaster will reach speeds near 40mph and a max height of 65 feet, joining five other world-class coasters throughout the park. Kentucky Kingdom also features a theme and waterpark, open seasonally, with a giant wave pool, water slides, lazy river, and four-story water playground.
