From top-tier glamping and original eateries to one-of-a-kind exhibits and new experiences, Topeka is a Midwest gem with much to offer during your 2022 travels. Whether you’re searching for a serene getaway or a fun-filled long weekend, you’ll want to make sure your next trip is to the capital city of Kansas. In 2022, enjoy Topeka Dino Days, new local restaurants and businesses, and a number of new exciting experiences and events.
The city will play host in 2022 to its first Topeka Dino Days, a new multi-exhibit experience that kicks off in February. Dino Days’ core exhibits include “SUE: The T. rex Experience” at Great Overland Station, “Dinosaurs Alive! Created by Dino Don Inc.” at The Topeka Zoo, and “Tiny Titans: Dinosaur Eggs and Babies” at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center. “SUE: The T. rex Experience” features a one-of-a-kind narrated show, realistic computer-animated scenes, touchable fossil replicas and scent stations, creating an immersive, multi-sensory experience. “Dinosaurs Alive! Created by Dino Don Inc.” is a captivating adventure featuring 18 life-size animatronic dinosaurs that move and make sounds, just like those fascinating prehistoric creatures that once roamed our planet. “Tiny Titans: Dinosaur Eggs and Babies” offers a rare and exciting look at the life of dinosaurs through exploration of their eggs, nests and young. Tickets for those experiences may be purchased at TopekaDinoDays.com. While in town, be sure to stop by the Topeka Visitors Center to see a free-to-view life-size cast of an Allosaurus dinosaur.
Another new event that’s bound to draw visitors to Topeka in 2022 is Kansas’ first-ever statewide LGBTQ Pride celebration being organized by Pride Kansas. Though details of the event are still being finalized, organizers hope to hold the Pride celebration in September. It’s likely to end up being a week-long event, so be on the lookout for more information. PrideKansas.org should be up and running soon! In the meantime, visit Topeka for new experiences like custom camping adventures organized “From The Top Glamping,” virtual golf and craft cocktails at downtown’s The Tee Box, lively fun at local gaming lounge Spawn Inn, and so much more. Adventure awaits!
