Pride Journey Summer Getaway: Atlanta, Georgia

Whether you’re looking for a weekend getaway or a full blown vacation, Atlanta is the perfect change of scenery this summer. With no shortage of things to see and do, the city is full of diversity and provides a unique experience for every visitor.

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights in downtown Atlanta pays homage to the American civil rights movement, and it brings current global human rights issues to the forefront. Through interactive exhibits, historical artifacts and strong imagery, The Center serves as a catalyst for civil and human rights conversation. The center is a perfect starting point for exploring Atlanta’s history in civil and human rights.

Georgia Aquarium may be docked on dry land in downtown Atlanta, but dive inside and you’ll discover more than 10 million gallons of water, home to hundreds of species and thousands of animals. The Aquarium has presented the kickoff party for Atlanta Pride for the past 10 years and will be the site of IGLTA’s 2021 opening night reception. The largest aquarium in the western hemisphere just got even bigger with an expansive new gallery, home to six shark species.

This urban oasis located adjacent to Piedmont Park in the heart of Midtown gives visitors a sense of why Atlanta is known as a ‘city in the forest.’ Atlanta Botanical Garden spreads its roots across more than 30 acres with renowned plant collections, beautiful displays and spectacular changing exhibitions.
