Reno Tahoe Prepares for LGBTQ Pride with Pride Bar Crawl

The urban base camp of Reno Tahoe will play host to the ever-popular Reno Pride Bar Crawl this year, taking place on June 22. This event joins the ranks of the biggest LGBTQ+ events in the state, including September’s annual Northern Nevada Pride, which brings a parade through downtown Reno, live entertainment, and a festival produced by the local LGBTQ+ community center, Our Center.

The most famous spot on the bar crawl is the 5 Star Saloon, the oldest gay bar in Nevada established in 1972, which offers a safe space for individuals to express themselves with live DJs, drinks, and dancers on stages, cages, and poles. Other Pride-perfect destinations include Midtown’s The Emerson, an LGBTQ+ owned mid-century style lounge with a unique twist on craft cocktails that hosts occasional drag brunches and burlesque shows. Located near the Nevada Museum of Art, which has hosted the OutWest Film Festival, celebrating queer films from around the world, is LGBTQ+ owned Rice Box Kitchen/Noodle Box Kitchen, an organic, simple, Asian-inspired comfort food restaurant.

For entertainment, The Theatre is a new LGBTQ+-owned event and performance space. Travelers can stay at the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel & Spa, located downtown along the Truckee River, the hotel boasts elevated amenities including the Refuge Spa, upscale furnished rooms, exquisite dining, and more.
