Springtime in Harrisonburg, Virginia

Rocktown Beer and Music Festival (4/16) – This much-anticipated annual event is a celebration of good beer, good living, and great community. Some of the best local and nationally touring bands have brought their talents to the stage, including The War on Drugs, Nikki Lane, The Steel Wheels, Bronze Radio Return, Chatham County Line, Yarn, The Hackensaw Boys, No BS! Brass Band, and more. Over 80 craft breweries will be present this year with flagship and seasonal beers and hard cider to sample, paired perfectly with wagyu beef burgers, classic southern barbecue, and Korean inspired handhelds sold at local food trucks. The proximity of the festival to Harrisonburg’s downtown district means that the festival can be a part of a larger day spent in the City, offering guests yet another reason to make it a full day of entertainment to look forward to and enjoy.

Historic Garden Week (4/27) – Travelers fond of art, architecture, and gardening are invited to tour private landscapes, public gardens and historic spaces during Virginia’s Historic Garden Week. More than 1,000 world-class floral arrangements will grace tour properties, including four stops on the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County tour: the Edith J. Carrier Arboretum, La Petite Valley Retreat and Cottage, Green Gables and Frieden Farms, and sprawling 3,700 square foot home perched on a hilltop the countryside.

Downtown Dinner Party (5/21) – This vibrant celebration of Harrisonburg’s culinary stars invites attendees to mix and mingle while enjoying more than a dozen tasting stations, locally brewed beer and wine, and an outdoor dance party. A live auction features local experiences that can’t be found anywhere else.

Cycling Races (Various) – Harrisonburg is an IMBA Bronze Level Ride Center and a basecamp for road races, gravel grinders, and heart pumping downhill mountain bike races! Cyclists flock to Harrisonburg each spring to compete in events like the Stokesville Stoopid 50, Gravel Gaps & Hollows 130k, Harris-Roubaix, Rockstar Challenge, Yee-Ha! Downhill Mountain Bike Race, Rocktown Rambler, and Trans Virginia Grand Depart.
