What's New in Austin?

Austin is a vibrant, bustling city that's constantly growing and evolving, making it the perfect place to explore and find a new favorite spot with every visit. From attractions and things to do around town to restaurants and nightlife, there are plenty of new openings to explore in Austin.

The Blanton Museum of Art has recently undergone a massive renovation of museum grounds. The open courtyard displays a grand art installation inspired by flower petals and includes the addition of the new Butler Sound Gallery, an immersive exhibit that explores sound art. After visiting the Blanton, do some shopping at Central Austin bookstore First Light, a charming neighborhood bookshop with an in-house coffee shop.

Austin’s restaurant scene is constantly evolving and seeing new openings making Austin a foodie’s paradise. Austin’s beloved Aaron Franklin, owner of James Beard Award-winning Franklin Barbecue, has done it again with the opening of Uptown Sports Club. The relaxed New Orleans-inspired restaurant serves a delicious variety of po’boys, gumbo, and fresh catch alongside a killer cocktail menu. LGBTQ-owned, Bureau de Poste is located within Tiny Grocer, a quaint specialty grocery store, and serves French cuisine with a modern twist. Experience internationally-inspired tapas and cocktails at the experimental concept, Space Cowboy, where you can have your food delivered to your table via a robot-esque spaceship on a track that travels through the restaurant.

Sign Bar is a colorful outdoor display of Austin’s iconic old neon signage and is a great place to kick back in a vintage lawn chair with a drink and admire Austin through the ages. Uchiba, a Japanese craft cocktail lounge, comes as the third iteration from the award-winning Uchi restaurant group. Located near the ever-expanding East Sixth Street district, industrial meets greenspace at Cosmic Saltillo, a multi-level outdoor space with picnic tables, out-of-this-world drinks and tasty tacos. End the night at Kingdom Nightclub and dance along with the techno DJ set in this intimate rocking venue.
