What's New in South Africa

South Africa is a wonderful destination to enjoy fine wine and life changing safari adventures. Here are some new hotel openings which may be worth a visit.

The Mighty Fine, located in Johannesburg, is a community-driven hotel expected to open its doors in early 2021. The new hotel, designed by Tristan Du Plessis [Design Hotels™], will be catering to the working professionals of the world – freelancers, creatives, design aficionados and hotel lovers -at an affordable price. Solopreneur-driven amenities include podcast studio-for-hire; lobby turned coworking vibe, ZOOM breakout rooms and a gin treehouse.

One of the most anticipated new hotel openings in South Africa, The Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge, is a luxe hotel expected to open at the end of 2020. Permanently parked on a bridge in Kruger National Park, the new train lodge will boast 31 rooms made from old train carriages high on the Selati Bridge above the Sabie River, providing majestic views and an unforgettable experience.

The Ngala Treehouse opened in February 2020, is still relatively new to the hotel scene in South Africa offering a luxury tree house escape that will get you closer to nature than ever before. Nestled about 39 feet in the air, along the border of Kruger National Park, The Ngala Treehouse provides the ultimate overnight remote retreat where travelers can unplug and sleep beneath the stars.

Set to launch in 2021, The Rockefeller Hotel will be an urban oasis where guests can live, work and play in the center of Cape Town. Within reach of the city’s best restaurants, boutique stores and cultural attractions, the new hotel will be designed as a private sanctuary featuring a rooftop pool with illuminated city vistas, all-day dining, a coffee bar, a resident DJ, fully equipped gym and an on-site spa.
