Boise Pride Returns with Three Days of Celebration, Community and Trixie Mattel

Boise will celebrate the strength, creativity and spirit of its LGBTQ+ community when the 37th annual Boise Pride Festival returns September 18–20 to Ann Morrison Park.

Located near downtown along the Boise River Greenbelt, the festival will expand to three days this year, with free, open-to-all festivities taking place throughout the weekend. The celebration begins with a ticketed opening-night performance by drag superstar Trixie Mattel.

The festival schedule will also include a Pride parade, live music, artistic performances, local food vendors, a drag spectacular and fireworks. Together, the events promise a colorful weekend that brings LGBTQ+ residents, visitors, families and allies together in the heart of Idaho’s capital city.

Ann Morrison Park gives Boise Pride a distinctive setting, combining a major community celebration with the natural beauty of the Boise River. Its location along the Greenbelt also makes it easy for visitors to explore the city’s outdoor recreational opportunities and growing culinary scene.

Beyond the festival grounds, downtown Boise offers an appealing mix of independent restaurants, local breweries and wine destinations. Visitors can spend the morning walking or biking along the river, enjoy an afternoon of Pride programming and then continue the celebration at one of the city’s many restaurants and gathering places.

Rainbow colors wrapped around the flagpoles at Boise City Hall provide a visible symbol of the city’s commitment to inclusion. Visitors will also discover a supportive LGBTQ+ community and local businesses working to create welcoming spaces for people of all identities and backgrounds.

Among those businesses is Mullet Proof Hair Co., an LGBTQ+-owned salon founded to provide a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Its approach removes gender-based categories from haircuts and styles, allowing clients to choose the services that best reflect their individual needs and preferences.

Another longtime community favorite is Flying M Coffee, an LGBTQ+-friendly coffee shop with a strong record of local advocacy. Through an annual art show and silent auction held over 26 years, the business has raised approximately half a million dollars to support people living with HIV/AIDS in the community.

With three days of performances, food, art and community connection, Boise Pride offers travelers the chance to experience one of the city’s biggest celebrations while discovering the welcoming businesses, outdoor spaces and local flavors that define Boise.
