Destination QC! to Celebrate Tourism and Community Leaders on October 29

Visit Quad Cities will bring residents, businesses and tourism partners together for its annual Destination QC! event on Thursday, October 29, at Rhythm City Casino Resort. The free gathering will explore how tourism supports local jobs and businesses while shaping the Quad Cities’ identity as a place to visit, live and work.

The program will feature a panel discussion on destination development and tourism with Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Finance Authority and Iowa Economic Development Authority; Bethanie DeRose, executive vice president of consulting at Hunden Partners; and Kristen Reynolds, president and CEO of Choose Chicago. Visit Quad Cities will also share results and trends and discuss the role community members play in creating memorable visitor experiences.

“Tourism is essential, it’s big business, and it is more than just welcoming visitors to the region,” said Dave Herrell, president and CEO of Visit Quad Cities. He noted that 92% of residents want to see tourism thrive in the region and described Destination QC! as an opportunity to celebrate local leaders and build momentum for the community.

Three honorees will be recognized during the event. Denny Hitchcock and Brett Hitchcock of Circa ’21, along with Durham, will receive Destination Impact Awards, which recognize exceptional contributions to the Quad Cities. Scott Peake of the Putnam Museum will receive the Certified Tourism Ambassador Award for his work championing the region and creating positive experiences.

Check-in and networking begin at 3 p.m., followed by the program and reception from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and a bar will be available, and attire is business casual. Quad Cities International Airport is the presenting sponsor, and Rhythm City Casino Resort is the venue partner.
