Seattle Pride celebrates 50 years of LGBTQIA+ history at the 2024 Seattle Pride in the Park festival and Seattle Pride Parade. This year’s theme Now!, is in recognition of the original Seattle rallying cry in 1974 in defiance of those who wished to keep the LGBTQIA+ community hidden and disempowered. The march continues in 2024.
Pride month kicks off at Volunteer Park on Saturday, June 1 at noon with the annual Seattle Pride in the Park festival – Seattle Pride’s celebration of queer arts, music, performance, and culture. The free event is hosted by drag artists Betty Wetter and Versace Doll.
Headlining this year’s Seattle Pride in the Park mainstage is LIVt, with additional musical performances featuring Sera Cahoone, La Fonda, and Day Soul Exquisite, with special guest Cookie Couture. Families and kids can join in on the fun at Drag Queen Storytime, and a family and teen space with Camp Ten Trees.
There will also be an alcohol garden for those 21 years of age and older as well as a sober area for those who prefer to celebrate without alcohol; food trucks, community booths, a queer vendor marketplace, a low-sensory decompression space with ARC of King County, and more.
The June festivities conclude with the Seattle Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30 at 11 a.m. along Fourth Avenue in downtown Seattle (between 4th & Pike Street and 2nd & Denny Way). The parade will feature floats, musical performances, and rainbow costumes galore among some of Seattle’s most beloved community groups, civic leaders, brands, and businesses. Seattle Pride is about inclusiveness – so all ages and all identities are invited to join in and watch the parade.
Festivities on parade day include music from Deejay Hershe, DJ Kween Kaysh, DJ Ricki Leigh, and DJ Riz. The Seattle Pride Parade Grand Marshals will be an intergenerational group of queer youth and queer elders – a poignant tribute to Seattle’s LGBTQIA+ past, present, and promising future.
Along the parade route, announcers include Blake Chilton Monroe, Ceasar Hart, DonnaTella Howe, Goddess Briq House, King Leo Mane, Sable Jones St. James, and Versace Doll. This year, in partnership with Hilton Motif Seattle, will host the first-ever Official Seattle Pride Drag Brunch produced by Wunderland Events + JaqsNetwork with a truly diverse cast of beloved local Seattle Queens. Enjoy the rooftop perspective from the deck of Hilton Motif Seattle's restaurant, Frolik Kitchen and Cocktails, a longstanding viewpoint for Seattle Pride Parade's revelers for decades.
For those unable to attend in person, Seattle Pride’s official TV partner, KIRO 7 will livestream the first two hours of the parade on kiro7.com and on the KIRO 7 News apps for phone and TV. Plus, tune in to KIRO 7 on Sunday, June 30th to catch Seattle Pride Parade coverage on KIRO 7 News at 11 p.m., followed by a half-hour Seattle Pride special at 11:30 p.m.
“This year’s Seattle Pride in the Park festival and Seattle Pride Parade have even more to celebrate than usual,” said Seattle Pride Executive Director, Patti Hearn. “We are honoring the past 50 years of Pride parades in Seattle and looking ahead to the next 50 years and beyond with an intergenerational presence.”
