The Nevada State Capitol Building and surrounding grounds are lit with thousands of twinkling holiday lights during a special celebration at the Silver Silver & Snowflake Capitol Tree Lighting, which will take place Friday, Dec. 5, 2025. The event is free to attend. Santa Claus makes appearances in Carson City at the Nevada State Railroad Museum for the annual Santa Train rides happening Saturdays, Dec. 6, 13 and 20, 2025. Tickets are available online or at the museum.

Visitors can also fuel their holiday fun with tamales, a traditional holiday meal across Central America, during the Brewery Arts Center’s Tamale Festival on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2025. The festival is free to attend. Travelers can round out the wintertime magic with a holiday wagon ride at the Silver Saddle Ranch Saturday, Dec. 20 and Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025. Wagon ride tickets must be purchased in advance online. With its blend of festive traditions and timeless charm, Carson City shines as the perfect destination to celebrate the season and make holiday memories that last a lifetime.
