Pride Journeys Property Review: AC Hotel Columbus, Ohio

By now, most of you know that I love Columbus. The LGBTQ-friendly mid-west city is a wonderful destination for those looking to get away for the weekend, so when I had the opportunity to stay at the brand-new AC Hotel in downtown, I of course made the journey from Indianapolis.

The sleek property is located in the heart of downtown Columbus. It’s a short walk to North Market as well as the arena district and just a few minutes away from Short North, the city’s LGBTQ hub.

Upon arrival, the first thing I took note of was the minimalist and modern décor in the lobby. It was inviting and functional, not pretentious or overwhelming like you would come to expect in some properties.

The rooms are elegantly appointed with luxury linens as well as a glorious walk-in shower. AC Hotel is a European brand targeting business and younger travelers. The fitness center features state-of-the-art equipment and is perfect for a morning workout before exploring the city or heading out to your business meeting.

Don’t forget to visit the rooftop of AC Hotel, probably its greatest attribute. Not only is there a restaurant and bar with panoramic views of the city, but the rooftop also contains event space which could be utilized for private events. The views from every area of the space are truly spectacular.

While on the roof, try some of the delicious cocktails and cuisine offered by Lumin Sky Bar & Kitchen. I ordered the Empanadas with Black Bean and Vegetable, crema verde as well as the Meatballs Catalonia made with Moroccan spices, brava sauce, manchego, and herbs. Both items were prepared perfectly and wonderful to share with friends.
