Owned and designed by Ash, Shenandoah Mansions is a redbrick 73-key hotel inhabiting a six-story historic apartment building in Richmond, Virginia dating back to the 20th century. The property exudes old-world charm through cinematic interiors with Richmond influence and references to local myths and legends.
Located in the Fan District — a former bohemian enclave whose picturesque, Italianate series of boulevards are lined with historic Virginia houses and charming restaurants and stores — Shenandoah Mansions sits just off Monument Avenue, offering sweeping views of treetops and steeples as one of the tallest buildings in the neighborhood. Bright and airy guest rooms are furnished with grand four-poster beds in gemstone colors with block-printed quilts, a nod to the folk artists still practicing in the Shenandoah Valley. Rooms host expansive bay windows, cinematic drapery, pine wood floors, and motifs inspired by American folk art, while bathrooms are adorned with imaginative hand-painted tiles.
A playground where fantasy meets folklore, Shenandoah Mansions greets guests with a lobby featuring hand-painted trompe l’oeil wood grain and a grand staircase leading towards long, winding corridors off of which guest rooms and suites are nestled. Also on the first floor are two bars, an intimate exterior garden, and the third Ash–Bar location, Ash’s all-day dining concept that interprets the spirit of the quintessential European cafe through an Americana lens.
Rooms start at $229 USD with reservations beginning February 12, 2025. Bookings are available online at shenandoahmansions.com.
