Autumn Adventures in the Art Coast of Michigan

Experience the enchantment of autumn in Saugatuck/Douglas, the renowned Art Coast of Michigan. Offering breathtaking outdoor attractions along with engaging events that visitors won’t want to miss, fall is an exceptional time to visit.

On Saturday, September 16, is the 12th Annual Lakeshore Harvest Ride, where bikers of all abilities can enjoy a countryside bicycle tour. Participants can visit art studios, wineries, cider mills, family farms, and fruit orchards along the way. Also happening this same Saturday is Saugatuck’s Art in the Park, where artwork and fine crafts from local and regional artists will be featured alongside live Americana-style music. Experience A Taste of Michigan: A Fresh Coast Films Roadshow, a delicious fusion of films and food, on September 28 at the Saugatuck Center of the Arts. A highly-curated series of short films set against the spectacular beauty of Marquette in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula will be shown. Enjoy a taste of fresh and flavorful local bites inspired by the shorts on screen at this multisensory event.

October 12-15 is Fennville's Annual Goose Festival, a fun event for the entire family featuring carnival rides, games, live music, a parade, a 5K run, food trucks, and more. This same weekend, you’ll also want to celebrate the season at the annual Douglas Oktoberfest on October 14, where there will be a live 35-piece German band, Alpenhorns, and polka dancing. And not to be missed is the Art Coast’s quintessential Fall Gallery Stroll, also happening on October 14. Stroll through dozens of galleries and artists’ studios as they extend their hours and feature special exhibits and activities. Chat with the artists, watch live demonstrations, enjoy live music, and sample delicious local bites and refreshments while expanding your artistic tastes.
