The West Hollywood EDITION is thrilled to celebrate Pride 2023 with a stunning installation designed by LA-based artist Amit Greenberg. On view through June, the captivating design will greet guests at the doors of the West Hollywood hotel.
Greenberg, previously a professor at The New School, known for his works for the likes of Chanel and Fendi, uses the grand cedar entrance doors of The West Hollywood EDITION’s lobby to showcase bespoke designs in celebration of Pride. Yours, Proudly unifies playfulness and curiosity in celebration of queer pride. The characters within the composition exude a delightful and whimsical essence, yet they also impart informative and contemplative elements.
Nodding to the LGBTQ+ flag, vibrant shades adorn the characters, symbolizing the unity and inclusivity within the LGBTQ+ community. Each character possesses a distinct narrative, intricately intertwined to weave a captivating tapestry that encapsulates the very essence of queer identity, culture, and historical significance. Embedded within the composition are subtle allusions to pivotal events and notable figures in the LGBTQ+ community, such as the Stonewall riots, the fight for marriage equality, and the We’wha, or the two-spirited tribe members.
Amit shares, “Through these references, I aim to remind viewers of the struggles and triumphs that have shaped our community and led us to where we stand today. The artwork is intended to be an immersive encounter; it aims to inspire boundless joy, instill a sense of pride, and foster a profound community spirit among its beholders. I aspire to encourage viewers to embrace their distinct identities while being reminded of the universal nature of love and acceptance. I am proud to utilize my creativity to celebrate and uplift my community, and my sincere wish is for my work to inspire others to do the same.”
In commemoration of Pride Month, Kylie Minogue Wines will be available at the Lobby Bar as well as The Roof, at The West Hollywood EDITION. The public can enjoy Kylie Minogue Wines’ Prosecco Rosé from the Italian hills of Gambellara, offering notes of fresh strawberries, raspberries and blossom, at $19 per glass and $85 per bottle. Kylie’s Côtes Provence Rosé will also appear on the menus at both outlets, offering luring aromas of fresh summer berries and white blossom, a fruity, crisp finish on the palate, at $20 per glass/$95 per bottle. The Prosecco Rosé will also be featured in a limited-run cocktail in honor of Pride Month: Rainbow Connection, crafted with Belvedere Vodka and Carpano Antica, an Italian vermouth, a house-specialty cucumber-mint syrup, strawberry puree and lemon juice. $2 from each glass and $10 from each bottle sold will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
