Winter Wonderland: Buffalo, New York

There's plenty to do in Buffalo in the winter months! Head to the Allentown neighborhood for walls and walls of murals, shopping at Trend Up, and if you're there the first Friday of the month, check out the First Friday art walk. For another fun neighborhood experience, head to Five Points, which quietly exploded overnight and is now THE go-to destination for foodies who visit Buffalo. Inside this area, you'll find a haven of women, minority and LGBTQ owned businesses, including Paradise Wine and Remedy House.

For unique outdoor fun in the winter months, visitors are encouraged to check out the frozen falls at Niagara Falls State Park!

As far as hotels go, one of the most anticipated projects in Buffalo, the Richardson Complex, is set to have a hotel reopen in November. The former New York State Asylum site built by famed architect Henry Hobson Richardson and landscape architect Fredrick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux has received new life from developer Douglas Jemal. The first piece of the project is reopening the 88-room hotel that was recently known as “Hotel Henry.” This boutique property will now be renamed Richardson Hotel.
